Introducing rehab4rehab

An Australian-First not-for-profit program that retrains retired thoroughbreds for Equine Assisted Therapy for children with disabilities, and disengaged youth.

Make a difference and affordably contribute towards a unique, community-based program which unites the retraining of retired thoroughbred racehorses with the powerful benefits of equine assisted therapy programs for teens and disengaged youth.

What we offer

Rehab4Rehad offers retired racehorses and children an opportunity to create a new range of forever-lasting, life skill sets. A new therapy program, carefully designed to ensure maximum results for both child and horse, allows children with mental health issues and/or disengaged youths to work with retired thoroughbreds to benefit from one another.

the Next Life for Race Horses

Horses exiting the racing industry are invited to join this program to play a key role with enrolled patients. During this program, the horses participate with the patients in their sessions. This is a purposeful & worthy re-homing for racehorses into the community whilst also improving our patients’ lives. Watching the horses & humans rehabilitate & flourish in their lives is the ultimate.

Who benefits?

Children & Adults with:
• Eating disorders
• Generalised anxiety and depression
• Mental health and behavioral issues
• Home-school or school refusal
• Vulnerable children living in care
• Self-harm and suicide ideation

What Is Equine Therapy?

Equine-assisted learning incorporates horses into the therapeutic process. Structured activities such as grooming, feeding and leading a horse, within an idyllic environment, whilst being supervised by a mental health professional, show (often immediate) heart-warming benefits and progress.

This assists children and adults with emotional awareness, social skills, impulse control, confidence, trust & empathy, connection and problem solving skills.

Your Contribution Makes a Huge Difference!

Rehab4Rehab already has a waiting list of families who cannot afford equine therapy as they do not yet have a diagnosis. This means no mental health plan or; they do have a mental health plan BUT, it may not cover equine therapy!

The cold facts in the latter instance is that they miss out! We currently treat 2 children pro bono but also have more than 20 on our list.
